TADL's younger patrons checking out. Cool!
Express Checkout stations are now available for added patron convenience in Youth Services, Sight and Sound, and in the lobby at the Woodmere (Main) Branch of the Traverse Area District Library.  With the completion of TADL's RFID tagging project  at Woodmere, patrons visiting the Main Branch can now check out any library item from the Woodmere collection at an express checkout station. Please stop in and try express checkout today!

Over the next 4-5 weeks, TADL's tag team will continue to tag the remaining physical library items with RFID stickers in all TADL facilities (East Bay, Kingsley, Fife Lake, Interlochen, Peninsula) and connect each item to the TADL catalog system. RFID, or Radio Frequency IDentification, allows mass checkin and checkout.  It will not only improve inventory control district-wide but also help TADL control costs.

The Woodmere Branch will be closed August 26-September 3 for lobby redesign to allow for four express checkout stations as well as a new welcome desk. The Woodmere Branch will reopen September 4. During this brief closure patrons are reminded they have access to five other amazing community libraries throughout the District.

Express checkout is a part of the library’s district-wide 2012 service upgrades. The upgrades include an enhanced online catalog, RFID tagging and, in the coming months, MeLCat. With more than 1.2 million lending transactions in the last year, the upgrades to the catalog and circulation systems are exciting and critical to control cost and continually improve the high quality of services the community has come to expect.
