The 7th Annual Filmstrip Festival will be held July 26th -28th at the East Bay Branch of the Traverse Area District Library located at 1989 Three Mile Rd N. in Traverse City. Celebrate the vintage fun of stories presented in the filmstrip format, enjoy popcorn, and craft projects related to the art of film and the stories presented at each screening.
The Filmstrip Festival kicks off the evening of Thursday, July 26 featuring the stories of artist Maurice Sendak. On Friday, July 27 enjoy stories from Japan and try your hand at folding origami. On Saturday, July 28 the library will feature Weird & Wacky stories including "Tuesday" by David Weisner and "The Foolish Frog", by Pete Seeger, all in the classic filmstrip format.
Conceived by library co-manager Rosie Flickinger, the filmstrip festival provides a low-tech, low-key complement to the iconic Traverse City Film Festival, which runs July 31-Aug. 5.
The Filmstip Festival is free and fun for all ages. Call the library for more information at 922-2085. Filmstrip Fun For Everyone!
