The 2012 Poets' Night Out has announced that they will accept poetry submissions for their annual public contest, through September 26, 2012 for mailed submissions and September 29, 2012 for submissions dropped off at the Woodmere Branch of the Traverse Area District Library.
Poets of all ages living in Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee, or Wexford counties, are invited to submit up to three original poems in the 16th Annual Poets’ Night Out contest. Submitted poems must be typewritten and include three copies of each poem.
There is a $10 submission fee, $5 for students and seniors with discounts offered for teachers submitting classroom entries.

Winning poets, selected by a jury team, will be asked to read their poem at Poets' Night Out, celebrated on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Traverse City Opera House located at 106 East Front Street in Traverse City. Selected poets will also be eligible for additional accolades including Audience Favorite Awards. Winning poems will be published in the PNO chapbook. One complimentary chapbook will be given to poets with published poems. Additional chapbooks will be available for sale for $5.00 the night of the poetry reading and afterward at the Traverse Area District Library Woodmere Branch.
