Traverse Area District Library
Virtual Tour
To your right from the lobby entrance, is our Library
for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
Operating from a small area for
serving 16 counties in Northern Lower Michigan,
the LBPH has made great
use of compact shelving for the collection of books on tape.

Believe it or not, you can move the entire collection with one turn of
the handle - with one finger!
The
collection of books on tape, were at one time, spread out in over twice the
current space.

Back out in the lobby,
passing the book return
slots, public elevator and restrooms, payphone, etc.
we come upon the main
intersection of traffic flow.
This big table, the staff calls the "fish" (because
it looks like one from the second floor)
is splashed with brochures and
community information.
