Volunteer Opportunities
Library volunteers play an important role as partners in the Library's mission of connecting people to the world of ideas and information.
If you would like to help our staff work with materials in the collection or connect others to our catalog and the Internet, we have some rewarding opportunities that might suit you! We're looking for people willing to donate just a few hours of their time on an ongoing basis. The Library does not accept volunteers through any court-ordered or diversion program.
Volunteer opportunities at the Main Library may include the following: shelf reader (making certain our collection is in the correct order), computer assistant (helping others sign onto the Library catalog or the Internet) or program support.
Volunteer opportunities at the branches may include the following: shelf reader (making certain our collection is in the correct order), computer assistant (helping others sign onto the Library catalog and the Internet), program support (assisting the Children's Librarian with craft projects), and creating displays and bulletin boards.
For more information about becoming a volunteer, please call the Volunteer Coordinator (231-932-8550) or send us a note using the online contact form.

By becoming a volunteer, you are making a valuable contribution to one of the busiest public library systems in the country!
