2001 Director’s Report

to the Traverse Area District Library

Board of Trustees

It is with pleasure that I present you with my annual report for 2001. The report consists of this brief narrative; a list of some of the more significant events of 2001; collection and use statistics; and, an unaudited financial statement for the Library’s General Fund.

2001 was a busy year for us, not only in terms of library use (circulation increased by 10% as opposed to 4% in 2000), but also in terms of planning and preparing for the future as mentioned in last year’s report:

  1. Exploring new branch locations and buildings
  2. Finding ways to meet the requirements of the Children’s Internet Protection Act
  3. Establishing ourselves as the central location for local information
  4. Addressing other strategic planning issues

In the coming year, hopefully we will see the fruition of all this preparation.

My thanks go to you as Trustees for your commitment and diligence; to the staff for their determination to serve the public with wholeheartedness; and, to the community which is proud and very supportive of their library.

Respectfully submitted,

Mike McGuire, Director

2001 March 14
