MINUTES
Board of Trustees Regular Meeting
Thursday, June 26, 1997
(minutes are unofficial until
approved by the Board of Trustees)
The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by President
Senger. Present were Senger, Welch, Viskochil, Nelson, Pratt and
Brown. Bynum was absent. Also present were Bob Somerville
(architect), Larry Monigold (engineer), Judson (Counsel), McGuire
and Buchanan (Staff).
Senger explained that consideration of awarding contracts for
construction of the new library had been postponed from the
previous meeting because of questions regarding the mechanical,
plumbing and fire protection bids. Somerville and Monigold
addressed the Board regarding those questions and the bids in
general. Following discussion of the bids, motion by Welch,
supported by Nelson to accept Hallmark Construction's bids #1 and
#2 with alternate #6 and to award them the combined trades
contract subject to approval as to form by Counsel. Carried.
Motion by Welch, supported by Nelson to award the plumbing
contract to D & W Mechanical, the mechanical contract to Arms
& Cole Inc., and the fire protection contract to Brigade, all
subject to approval as to form by Counsel. Carried.
Motion by Nelson, supported by Brown to award the electrical
contract to Windemuller Electric, subject to approval as to form
by Counsel. Carried.
The Board discussed the Strategic Planning goals, objectives
and action plans. No action was taken at this time. The trustees
agreed that each trustee should prioritize the objectives, and
they will be discussed at the next few meetings.
The meeting was opened for public comment. P. Metzger,
Peninsula Community Library, reminded the trustees of PCL's
picnic on July 16. E. Long reported that McGuire had attended a
meeting of the Library Committee of the League of Women Voters.
There was no further public comment.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Dawn Buchanan, Administrative Clerk
Frank Senger, President
