Board of Trustees Special Meeting

Thursday, September 25, 2003

The special meeting for the purpose of adopting the 2004 Budget Resolution and setting the 2003 millage rates was called to order at 5:55 by President Mesch.  Present were Mesch, Lawrence, Quick, Maxson, Brown and Luyt.  Welch was absent.  Also present were Roe (Counsel), McGuire, Schneider and Buchanan (Staff).

 

Motion by Maxson, supported by Lawrence to adopt the 2004 Budget Resolution.  Carried.

 

Motion by Luyt, supported by Brown to set the rates for the 2003 millage at .999 mills for the General Fund and .23 mills for the Debt Retirement Fund.  Carried.

 

Schneider distributed information regarding in-house accounting systems, and he and Maxson answered questions regarding the systems.  Motion by Maxson, supported by Lawrence to approve the purchase of the Intuit accounting software system, to be paid for from undesignated fund balances.  Carried.

            The meeting was opened for public comment.  There was none.  McGuire requested that the date of the October Regular meeting be changed to allow him to attend a meeting in Lansing regarding CIPA (Children’s Internet Protection Act) and bring back information that the Board would need to make a decision prior to October 29.  He will confirm a date after checking with all trustees.  The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
