Yeah, the beams are arriving!!!
It takes a HUGE CRANE to put these beams up! *

* At last, the
beginnings of "The Structure"
* Too cool, huh? *

THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!
* This is the
overall structure.
This is looking from the Children's Department corner. *

* On a cloudy day
. . .
The tallest beam is 54 ft. high and weighs 7000 lbs.
( Just how tall is that? - It's about 10 of me! )
* The big fat beam running horizontal is 9000 -
yes, 9000 lbs.
Each bolt used in the steel beam construction can withstand 4000 lbs., which for your information is ALMOST an African elephant. They can reach up to 6,600 lbs. as an adult. Imagine that standing on the head of one of those bolts - Now, that's a circus act for you, eh?
* The balancing act...Setting the beam.*

* This is from the lakeside RR tracks.

Ahhh, just like a metal sculpture in the Louvre.
*

Pouring the floor.
*
The top floor, what a view, eh?
Beautiful!
