The Sight and Sound Center has over 19,000 Compact Discs; 1,700 Digital Video Discs; 2,900 Video Cassettes; 250 CD-Roms. CD's may be borrowed for 3 weeks. DVD's and video cassettes are loaned for 4 days. A valid library card is required for borrowing materials.

We also have for rent 1 overhead projector, 2 slide projectors, 2 VCR's, 1 DVD player, 1 16mm projector, and 1 video projector (PowerPoint projector). Current TADL library account necessary for equipment rental.

We now have "Hot Title" Compact Disc rentals
( $1.00 each on a 2-week loan )

TADL has had a growing collection of DVD movies including feature films, educational/informational, travel, arts, sci-fi, Walt Disney, comedy, foreign films, B&W classics, mystery/thrillers, and much much more.

We also feature DVD copies from several local film series and festivals including, Beyond the Bay, Cinema Curiosa and The Traverse City Film Festival.

Video Cassettes
The Library offers a wide range of educational and informational videos to choose from...children's, home improvement, travel, crafts, sports, science/mathematics, animals, cooking, health, gardening, arts, psychology, hobbies, history, and more.

The Library has a collection of Described Videos for people who are blind or have low vision. These are available through the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped department.

Other Audio-Visual Materials at TADL

cassette books are mainly a browsing collection located on the main floor of the library and are listed in the card catalog in the Adult Reference department
kits containing cassette tapes and read-along books are located in the Youth/YA department
the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped has specially taped cassettes for those unable to read ordinary printed material because of visual or physical limitations
Adult Reference has a wide variety of foreign language instruction cassettes shelved in the 400 section of the non-fiction books
