Digital Players at Last!
Grand Traverse Area Library for the Blind & Physically Handicapped has begun roll-out of new Digital Book Machines. Beginning with veterans, we have sent out about 50 digital players so far to users in our 16 county service area. Following many years of records and then cassettes, the new format is being enthusiastically received! The players are smaller, very easy to use and have excellent sound quality. The library is adding daily to the number of titles available on digital cartridges made just for our players. Registered users who have computer skills may also download books from the national website.
About 200 people (of over 850 in our service area) are on the wait list for digital players, which will be distributed as they are alotted each month by National Library Service.
Grand Traverse Area LBPH is part of National Library Service for the Blind & Physically Handicapped. We provide audio and Braille books by mail to registered users in northern and western Michigan.
