When you call to schedule a tutoring session, let us know what basic skills you are hoping to learn. Below you will find a list of computer skills you may want to learn. If there is something else you are looking for please call and speak with the instructor to find out if we can accommodate you. We are keeping our tutoring at the basic level only and will be happy to suggest other places in the community where you can go beyond what we teach.
Here are some things we can teach that every computer user should know:
Mouse
Skills will teach you how to hold,
move, and use the mouse. The class consists of an online tutorial and a teacher
near by to answer questions and give additional information. The class is
free and runs from 1/2 to 1 hour. This
class is a must for anyone with little or no mouse experience who wishes to
enroll in subsequent classes.
If you already are
comfortable using a mouse feel free to move right on to one of the other

E-mail takes what you know about your e-mail and builds on it. You will sit down with an instructor and spend up to one hour honing your skills. For students new to e-mail, time will be spent setting up an account and then learning how to open, compose, send, forward, delete, and save e-mails. Anyone who already has an e-mail account needs to come with the web address for getting to their e-mail, their username, and their password. We will answer questions, set up folders, show you how to attach files, and discus e-mail safety tips. Please be aware that all e-mail services are different. For students that cannot reach their e-mail from outside the house or for those with unfamiliar setups, the instructor may need them to set up a new address in order to teach the basics.
