Library Presents 17th Annual Poets' Night Out Event
Celebrate National Poetry Month by attending the 17th Annual Poet's Night Out event on Sunday, April 27 at the Traverse City Opera House. The show begins at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

Typically presented in November, this year's poetry contest and reading event, showcasing 25 area poets from a 10-county region selected by a jury team, will take place in April to celebrate and coincide with National Poetry Month.

Poets' Night Out offers a supportive platform for local poets of all ages, professional and amateur, to experience an affordable opportunity to become published, to read to a receptive audience and network with fellow writers.

This year, selected poets range in age from middle school to retiree. Topics include politics, nature, relationships, grief/loss, and sports.

Those who enjoy poetry or are even curious about this sometimes misunderstood genre are encouraged to attend this engaging evening of live poetry. Guests will be entertained and have the opportunity to participate in voting for audience favorites resulting in prizes for the poets.

Poets' Night Out is proudly presented by the Traverse Area District Library and the Friends of the Traverse Area District Library with generous support from community prize sponsors including Horizon Books, Book O Rama, Joyful Noise Daycare, and Clark Walter Sirrine Architects.

The Traverse Area District Library (TADL) is a network of community libraries including Woodmere, East Bay, and Kingsley Branches, Fife Lake, Interlochen, and Peninsula Public Libraries.
