Power Meters
WATCH the 9&10 News Segment Featuring the power meters
Patrons interested in learning how much energy they are using can check out a Kill A Watt Power Meter kit at any Traverse Area District Library location by placing a hold through TADL's online catalog, searching for "kill a watt" or "power meter".
The power meter measures energy consumption by the kilowatt-hour, the same unit of measurement that utilities use, either at a given moment or over an extended period of time. Just plug your device into the meter, plug the meter into the wall, and read the display. It can estimate the electrical consumption and costs associated with each appliance by the hour, day, week, month or an entire year.
Each kit includes additional instructions on how to use the meter, what the information means and tips about energy consumption.

Kill-a-Watt power meters are provided through a partnership with Traverse City Light and Power.
