BUSINESS REFERENCE BOOKS - These include

Company directories: Thomas Register of Manufacturers, Harris Michigan Industrial Directory, Membership list of the Traverse City Chamber of Commerce and more.

CASSETTE-BOOK COLLECTION - There are nearly 3600 cassette-book titles in the TADL collection, both fiction and non-fiction. These books are the most popular of all TADL materials. Most do not stay on the shelf more than a day before taking another outing, making an average of more than 100 trips in their library lives. Hats off to our loyal repair team which keeps these books going great guns.

Books in Print (BIP) Using BIP, Reference staff can help you find books by title, author and/or subject. Many titles can be borrowed from the TADL libraries or inter-library loaned. You can also use the information from BIP to order materials at local bookstores.

FINANCIAL NEWSLETTERS - A sampling of these

Morningstar which provides hard-to-find mutual fund data, i.e. closed end funds, variable annuities, American depository receipts and US stock, Insurance Forum promotes an exchange of ideas about insurance and annually produces a ratings list of life/ health companies, Value Line and more.

FOUNDATION CENTER COOPERATING LIBRARY - The collection consists of directories, indexes and grant writing guides to foundations and corporate funding sources. FC Search, the Foundation Center's database is available on-line and brings many of these sources together for fine-tuning searches of the more than 72,000 grant making bodies in the United States The Foundation Center, founded in 1956, is the nation' leading authority on philanthropy and is dedicated to serving grant seekers, grant makers, researchers, policymakers, the media and the general public. GENEALOGY- Formerly housed by Northwestern Michigan College's Osterlin Library. The Grand Traverse County Clerk and the Library have placed the index to Grand Traverse Marriage and Death Records of the area online.

HOT TITLES - A rental collection of books that appear on the NYT best seller list or advertised heavily to the public. We use a quick cataloging technique to circulate these books as soon as possible. Not all of these titles are selected for the permanent collection. Charge: $1 for 14 days, 25 cents each day thereafter.

NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES - Business oriented

Wall Street Journal, Barrons,  Business News, Business Week, Forbes, Kiplinger's Personal Finance and Money Magazine and more.

SHEET MUSIC - Large collection of popular song sheet music collected and donated by local musician, Elizabeth Bannister. Titles are listed in the library's card catalog. Look for the SHM prefix.

YEARBOOKS - We have a collection of yearbooks for The Traverse City High schools dating back to 1900 thru the current year (missing years 1901,1903-1906,1920,1939).  We have Traverse City Saint Francis yearbooks dating back to 1953 thru the present (missing 1955-1960, 1963, 1969, 1971, 1976, 1985, 1988).
