Summer of Mecha

The term mecha is typically used when talking about giant, human-controlled robots but can also mean any type of destructive, mechanical weapon. A Summer of Mecha would include us reading some of the best (in our minds at least) mecha manga and watching some of the best mecha anime. read more »

Mario Kart Tournament Results

TADL Youth Services awarded Friend of Ed Award

Lana Nickels and Judy Oien, co-presidents of Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma will present the award to Youth Services Manager, Bernadette Groppuso on Saturday February 20 at 10:30 a. m. in the Youth Services Department at the Woodmere Branch Library. read more »

2009 Income Tax Forms available at Woodmere

Woodturning display at Woodmere in February

The Northwestern Michigan Woodturners will be exhibiting their woodturnings at the Traverse Area District Library Woodmere Branch at 610 Woodmere from February 1 - 26, 2010. Included in this display will be a photo display of the woodturning process. read more »

Childrens Art from Japan at Woodmere
Published on January 9, 2010 - 12:44pm — wjrDuring the month of January the art exhibit and two of the display cases at the Traverse Area District Library Woodmere Branch feature children’s paintings and ceramics, along with a photo essay, from Traverse City’s sister-city, Koka City, in Shiga Prefecture in Japan.
In 1968 the state of Michigan and Japan’s Shiga Prefecture signed a sister-state agreement. Currently Michigan and Shiga share 17 sister and friendship cities. One of those 17 cities, Koka City, is a sister-city of Traverse City, Dewitt and Marshall, Michigan. read more »

TADL BATL Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Exhibit: Strong Newspaper, Strong Community
Published on November 11, 2009 - 11:32am — wjrThe Record-Eagle’s traveling exhibit of Traverse City and newspaper history will be on display throughout November at the Traverse Area District Library Woodmere location.
Created as part of the newspaper’s 150th anniversary celebration, the “Strong Newspaper, Strong Community” exhibit in the McGuire room includes large “then-and-now” photos of the city, early maps of the region and old front pages. read more »
