Summertime at the public library isn’t just for school-age kids. It’s also a great time for adults to be active physically and learn new skills!
Introducing: Senior Summer Camp… a series of four sessions just for adults age fifty and older. Join library staff and community experts offering information and tips on a variety of topics to encourage a healthy and engaged lifestyle.
Each session will meet at 10:00 a.m. on the following Tuesdays in the McGuire Community Room of the TADL Main Library, in Traverse City.
June 19 – Week 1: Be Hip! Stay Fit!
Get information and “insiders” tips to local trails and waterways to get you moving and outside!
June 26 – Week 2: Hands-on Health
First hear from Dawn Pater, a certified oncology esthetician, who will talk about the care of aging skin. Then, Shelley VanBrocklin will talk about the benefits of essential oils. She will also offer a make and take product for the first 48 seniors that participate.
July 17 – Week 3: Social Media Mastery
An introduction to Facebook, plus further tips and tricks if you already understands the basics. We will cover other social media sites if the interest is there (Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc). Bring your device or just watch along.
July 24 – Week 4: Demystifying Devices
This week will take the mystery out of your device and help you be able to read, watch and listen on the go with the library’s resources. Please make sure you bring your device, and have your username and password for your library account, with you.
