TADL Receives Gift from the Estate of Marion L. Talbot

Marion L. Talbot, M.D., M.P.H., of Traverse City, passed away in February 2019. The Traverse Area District Library (TADL) was a named beneficiary of her estate and recently the TADL Board of Trustees accepted her unrestricted gift of $81,200 to the library.

Dr. Talbot was an avid reader and well known to, and respected by, many of the staff at the TADL Main Library. She also donated many books to the library over the years.

Dr. Talbot was an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist who travelled globally and provided care to the farthest reaches of Alaska, which was possible because she was also a pilot!

“We were truly touched and gratified that Dr. Talbot appreciated her library experience enough to include TADL in her will,” said TADL Director Gail Juett. “Her gift will be used in a way that will honor her memory in a special way to continue her legacy.”

In recent years, TADL has received several estate gifts that have been used as transformational resources to improve library services. If you would like to include the Traverse Area District Library in your estate plans to benefit future generations of library users, please talk with your financial planner or trust attorney.
