Annual Plant Sale to benefit the Grand Traverse Area Children’s Garden

It’s spring! Once again it’s time for the Annual Plant Sale to benefit the Grand Traverse Area Children’s Garden.

 

The sale will take place on Saturday, May 20, between 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the Traverse Area District Library: Main Library (610 Woodmere Avenue, Traverse City). Buy plants to take home to your flower beds and garden and support the children in the garden. Come early for the best selection!

 

The Children’s Garden is seeking donations of plants and garden-related items, and for volunteers to help with the sale. For more information, please call Joan Dibble: (231) 649-0044

 

The Grand Traverse Area Children’s Garden was established in 1999, on the Boardman Lake side of the Traverse Area District Library: Main Library, with a vision to educate and inspire youth with the knowledge of gardening, nutrition, conservation, and the environment. Volunteers, led by Susan Kuschell, started the Garden as a sponsored fund of the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. Shortly after, the community expressed interest in a place for children to actively engage in gardening, not just to view its beauty.  In 2001, the Learning Garden in Hull Park opened as a place where community volunteers, and thousands of visitors and residents, support gardening each year.
