Michigan Forest History, Then and Now

Join us via Zoom as Mark Stormzand, forester and author of the book Stormy Outside : The Adventures and Misadventures of a Forester and His Dog, for an enlightening picture of the history and future of Michigan’s forests.

We will learn about the history of the forests – who used to use them before the Europeans arrived, how they were utilized improperly, recovery efforts to bring them back, and how we can help conserve forests for the future.

Stormy outside : the adventures and misadventures of a forester and his dog

Summary: A compilation of escapades and adventures of a forester and his various canine companions. The stories cover the decades between 1975 and 2015, stretching from Idaho to Maine. Often hilarious and always a good lesson learned, this memoir is heartwarming and full of life knowledge gained from the perspective of a career working in the great outdoors.
