Traverse Area District Library Local History Collection invites you to view our latest exhibit, Portraits of Promise: Immigrant Portraits from the Local History Collection, on display through the month of May. This exhibit presents a collection of portraits of Northern Michigan immigrants found in the Local History Collection. In the mid to late 19th century, individuals and families came to the area to forge new lives. Their legacy can be found in place names to this day. Highlighted are local photographers who captured the faces of this proud American dream.

This exhibit explores over 100 years of ideas, voices, and democracy in our region, and is part of TADL’s Cradle of Democracy series.
