Dear Readers, It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Posted on:

It’s at once LGBTQ History month and Halloween! Some people don’t like fall and October and cooler weather and happiness and the cozy atmosphere of foggy nights and the flapping sound of bat wings overhead. And that’s fine too! Fortunately for everyone, I’m your stereotypical librarian who does like all of those things, and that’s what I have brought you today.

This post is a glimpse into the Halloween display on the second floor at the Main Library, including ones from different departments that I didn’t physically add. Don’t forget to stop in and take a look at each department’s decorations. The week before Halloween, the staff also put together a pumpkin contest that needs your votes! I hope you enjoy!

Women and Other Monsters  |  Disfigured: On fairy tales, disability, and making space

These two are examinations of the stories we’ve been told, and this time of year is perfect for looking in the dark corners we might otherwise avoid.

Cemetery Boys   |  Mooncakes  |   White Smoke

Do you like hauntings? Found family? Fighting for yourself and the ones you love? Then these Young Adult books are for you, my friend. (I recommend the Libby Audiobook for Cemetery Boys because it’s how I enjoyed it! This book is so worth the wait, and the narrator (Avi Roque) is excellent.)
