February’s Finest: New Books and Events for Next Month! (Teen Blog 28)

Posted on:

Whew, we’ve been busy in the teen section! We’ll have new crafts and displays to look for next month, but we’re more excited about our new programs for teens to enjoy!

As always, we’ll have our regularly scheduled monthly programs like Anime Club and our all-new French Conversation Group, but we want more! These six featured programs cover a variety of interests, so we’re confident in saying there’s something here for everyone.

Image titled New YA Programs! 6 programs are listed. In order they are: Valentine's Day Escape Room, Teen Luddite Club, Hamilton Sing-Along, Beeswax Luminaries, Hot Foil Lucky Envelopes, and Read It Keep It Book Club.
  1. Valentine’s Day Escape Room (Monday February 2nd from 4:00 - 5:00 PM)

Due to popular demand, we’re hosting another event in our Teen Escape Room series! This one is filled with Valentine’s Day fun. Your Valentine’s goodies were locked away by a mysterious sender– can you find out who they are before time runs out?

  2. Teen Luddite Club (Thursday February 5th from 4:00 - 5:30 PM)

Are you tired of technology and burnt out on electronics? If so, you’re probably a Luddite! Grab a few cookies and read, draw, crochet, or just hang out with us while we take time to relax and destress together.

  3. Hamilton Sing-Along! (Thursday February 12th at 6:00 PM)

Calling all Hamilfans! We’re hosting a sing-along showing of the popular Broadway musical Hamilton for fans of all ages, so don’t miss out! Costumes are encouraged for fans who want to belt out their favorite Broadway tunes in style.

  4. Beeswax Luminaries (Saturday February 14th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM)

Learn to make beautiful beeswax bowls from pressed flowers and leaves with our awesome guest presenter Woodsy Dude! These bowls make a perfect Valentine’s Day gift to family, loved ones, or as a gift to yourself.

  5. Hot Foil Lucky Envelopes (Tuesday February 17th from 4:00 - 5:00 PM)

To celebrate Lunar New Year, we’re making lucky envelopes to bring good fortune in 2026. Whether you want to practice your hot foil technique, learn more about the Year of the Horse, or are simply in it for the free chocolate, we’d be happy to see you stop by.

  6. Read It Keep It Book Club (Tuesday February 24th from 4:00 - 5:00 PM)

Our all-new book club has a unique twist– we’ll give you a free copy of each book we read so you can collect them for yourself! We’re reading the most popular YA books in the TADL collection, starting with Lynn Painter’s Better Than The Movies. Registration is required for this program, so sign up online while seats last.

Now that we’ve talked about the upcoming programs for next month, we want to introduce February’s Finest: our recommendation of the top book being released in February 2026!

Image titled February's Finest! It has an image of the new book According to Plan by Christen Randall, with 5 stars next to it and a pair of hands being held. Text underneath reads: Triple treat! Queer, ADHD, & Plus Size rep.

Our top pick is Christen Randall’s According to Plan, a cozy sapphic romance where self love takes center stage alongside its adorable queer couple. Randall’s romance stars Mal Flowers, a neurodivergent, queer, and plus-sized nonbinary person who doesn’t feel like she fits in. That all changes when she meets Emerson Pike, an extrovert who happens to be a lot like her. Centered around their underground high school zine, According to Plan is a heartwarming story about finding your people, self-discovery, and carving out a space for yourself in unexpected places. We recommend this one for fans of Heartstopper and Felix Ever After!
