Families are invited to beat the winter blahs and inspire a love of reading with TADL's Winter Reading Club. From January 4th through February 28th, read at least 15 minutes for 5 days each week (listening to a book counts, as well). Log your days read on a paper log or in Beanstack (the same logging software we use for Summer Reading).
Prizes
Weekly Prizes: complete reading at least 15 minutes per day for 5 days in a week and stop in for a prize (note: there is no spinning wheel during the winter, each prize will be the same for each age groups). There will be a new weekly prize each week.
Finisher Prizes: complete 6 weeks of reading and receive a digital ticket in Beanstack to put in for prize drawings. Complete all 8 weeks and receive 2 tickets! You could win fun stuff like marble runs, book sets, and Downtown Bucks!
To sign up, go to tadl.beanstack.org and enroll in the challenge (it is the same for ages birth - 12 years old). Then mark every day that your child reads (or is read to) at least 15 minutes. You can also pick up a paper log at TADL Main to keep track or print it below.
Tips for success
The key to succeeding at this challenge is to find a good time for your child to read each day and make a habit out of it. Bedtimes are often a great time. Also, help them find something they'll enjoy reading. Your local Youth Services staff are happy to help you find a book or two your child will enjoy to get you started or over the bump. Happy reading!
