Every year the Traverse Area District Library celebrates Banned Books Week and our continued commitment to the freedom to read. This freedom is codified within our library policies (Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read, Freedom to View), and it is core to who we are as a library.
- "Banned Books Week Through the Years" Poster Display - McGuire Community Room (October 1 - 15, 2023)
- Youth - Banned Books Reading Challenge (Register for this challenge in Beanstack)
- Power to the Parent Brochure (Download)
- Teen - Banned Books Brochure (Link)
- Adult - Banned Books Staff Picks (Find this list at the bottom of the tadl.org home page during Oct. 2023!)
- Shirts - We are selling "A Book Can Save a Life" t-shirts at our front desk. They are $22 each, all proceeds from each shirt will be used to purchase additional "own voices" books for TADL's collection.
We honor and celebrate the right for everyone to read materials of their choosing. If you are having difficulties finding library materials that meet your needs, ask a librarian! They will be happy to help you.
