Grand Traverse Area Genealogical Society

The Grand Traverse Area Genealogical Society (GTAGS) has partnered with the Traverse Area District Library (TADL) to develop an extensive genealogical research collection. In addition, GTAGS members are also available to assist patrons with their genealogical research; extensive research for remote patrons may incur a fee.
GTAGS has contributed more than 2,000 books, thousands of periodicals and newsletters, many reels of microfilm, microfiche and CDs on a wide variety of records, resources and how-tos that cover global genealogical research. GTAGS continues to contribute to the growth of the genealogical collection, and has recently donated a large collection of French-Canadian research materials.
In addition to these donations, GTAGS members have also researched and donated copies of the following:
  • Microfilm of Oakwood Cemetery burial records and area obituaries
  • Cemetery books in print of local counties including Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Missaukee and Wexford.

GTAGS meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 2 pm, March through November.
